Apex Surgery Center:

• It is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
• Its operating room nurses hold certifications from the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), and its pre-op and recovery nurses are certified by the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses.
• It uses the O-arm surgical imaging system, which gives the surgical team real-time 2D and 3D images during surgery and works with surgical navigation systems. It is one of only two ambulatory surgery centers in Georgia with this system.
• It has a post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), where certified nurses care for you as you wake up.

Not every procedure is done at every location. Dr. Grunch will tell you where your own surgery is planned and why.

When surgery can often correct the problem, you meet with Dr. Grunch or one of her physician assistants beforehand to review the procedure, confirm your plan and answer your questions.

• Before surgery: A nurse calls you about 7 to 14 days before surgery to review your medical history and medicines and to give you detailed instructions. Follow the instructions you are given, and never stop a blood thinner or any other medicine on your own.
• Surgery day: Arrive at the time you are given, with a ride arranged for after your procedure.
• After surgery: Certified nurses care for you in the recovery unit. Most patients go home the same day. Dr. Grunch will go over recovery for your specific procedure.

From Atlanta: Take I-85 North to Exit 111 (Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road).

From Gainesville and the north: Take I-985 South, which merges onto I-85 South, to Exit 111 (Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road).

From Exit 111: Head toward Suwanee on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road and turn onto Northolt Parkway. Follow Northolt Parkway to McGinnis Ferry Road and continue on McGinnis Ferry Road. Apex Surgery Center is at 454 Satellite Boulevard NW, Suite 200, a short distance ahead. The drive from the exit takes about 3 to 5 minutes.
